🐾 Humans call it Laundry Day.
I call it Operation Fabric Mountain.
It began when I discovered a glorious pile of clothes in the hallway — warm, soft, and smelling of every adventure we’ve ever had. Socks, shirts, towels… all gathered in one irresistible heap. My instincts kicked in. This was no ordinary pile. This was a mission.
“Breaking news,” I announced to myself. “A fabric mountain has appeared. I must investigate.”
I crept closer, nose twitching. From the other room, a voice thundered, “Don’t even think about it…”
I froze for dramatic effect. Then grinned.
“Too late.”
With lightning speed, I grabbed a shirt and sprinted down the hall. “Stop helping!” they shouted.
“I can’t,” I barked proudly. “It’s who I am.”
Next came the sock phase — the most critical part of any laundry operation. I selected only the finest specimens and hid them in secure vaults: under the couch, behind the curtain, and inside my blanket cave. When questioned later, I simply said, “Classified.”
But no mission is complete without quality control. I chose a shirt for pre‑rinse testing — chew, shake, drool, repeat. The humans screamed “WHY?!”
I shrugged. “Quality control.”
Finally, I sat among the chaos, surrounded by my work — redistributed fabrics, pre‑rinsed samples, and a few missing socks that would never be found. The humans looked exhausted. I wagged my tail proudly.
“You’re welcome,” I said.
As a dog owner of five, the challenges of finding all our socks and shirts that were stolen from the laundry pile, has been fun. Recently I pack some clothes for my husband on a trip. Sometimes when I do laundry I am going so fast I forget to check for torn or stained clothes. This trip was a quick over night trip so I grabbed some boxes, socks, shirt and jeans for him, as I always do. We get up the next morning and after a shower, he proceeds to get dressed and well, lets just say he had air conditioned boxers. There were three extra holes in the boxers, and not in the best spot for men. Wardrobe malfunction!! I have decided to now only do a load at a time and avoid the mountain of laundry, while fun for the pups it is quite annoying.
Sigh ~ The life of a dog mama!
